Aging
Everyone would like to lump together all people over 50, 55, 60 .... as seniors. But in truth, we are unique individuals as each snowflake is unique. As we age, we become a mixture of experiences, education and events, plus we hope we become a collection of wisdom and foresight. In the not too distant past, our society recognized the importance of providing services for older adults or elderly to ensure a quality life for aging Americans. Old age was once a short period at the end of our lives. Better health, nutrition and lifestyles have extended lives and made available for older adults time and energy to pursue many interests. Aging is changing. Retirement is changing.
This site is for any person 50 years + who may be needing resources or links to for their own needs or for their parents. The Older Americans Act established the Area Agency on Aging which provides local services, information plus options. We all know at some point our physical abilities will diminish and help may be needed to navigate the various services available, we hope to be the link which can help. As we age, we need to stay connected and engaged. We have tried to include resources here for those in the second fifty years of living.
This site was constructed by some of the El Dorado Commission on Aging members and volunteers — thank you.
